But I would like to have a guess/test option so you can learn to recognize the constellations without the app.

Definitely the app to have when taking the dog for the late evening walk under the stars. To look up and be able to identify and name everything is truely wonderful.

Please review your information, for example Venus is said to be at 1.7au from Earth... The distance from the Sun is 0.7au so 0.3au from Earth

short and cryptic names of objects. Additional advertisements bother. Not useable.
Brilliant app until I loaded the latest Apple iOS9 upgrade...developer says a fix is coming...hopefully soon.

The compass hardly ever shows up on iphone 6 since ios 9. Making it impossible to calibrate. This is a long standing issue with this app. IF they could make the COMPASS RELIABLE it would be a great app.
Not sure what the problem is, but I have been using the paid version on this app for a few years now. But now, it doesnt know its north from its south! The display is half in the black and half using my camera view.
I have tried installing it a few times, thing that might fix the problem. Not sure why it is acting up. Use to be a good app for star gazing. Maybe the magnetic pole shift has started to move. I cant seem to the compass to work. In fact the updated version doesnt even show the compass anymore? Hummm? Im very frustrated. So Im rating it lower that a 4. I notice you dont seem to show all the reviews from other people on here, about this app? Hope you will have a better update for it soon. Otherwise this has been a big waste of money! :(
